His first project, putting fender flares on a '69 Camaro, was before he even graduated Brookings Harbor High School in 1981. Knowing painting and bodywork was his passion he joined the Marine Corps right after graduation and got to work. Getting plenty of practice doing custom painting by hand his work was mainly camouflage on the military's many different vehicles. After 10 years he came back home to Brookings and joined South Coast Lumber, raising his family for 14 long years before remembering his dreams and going back to school. Emerging 2nd in his class from Wyoming Technical Institute in 2003 he and his wife Gail opened West Coast Custom Paint and Restoration in May of 2004. It's been a great 19 years and Marty, the shop, and his family are still going strong!
Bo loves cars and has for as long as he can remember. Having worked in the family's shop on and off since he was a sophomore in high school he has never attended any technical or trade school. His knowledge and expertise is an accumulation of his father's (Marty's) teachings and years of hard work. Having learned skills such as welding as young as 12 years old Bo specializes in custom bodywork and paint. In his spare time he drifts his racecar, works on his many projects, and raises his own beautiful family.
Zack is one of Bo's oldest friends. Having a mechanic for a father he remembers his own obsession with the insides of cars starting at the tender age of 7. He grew up working on friends cars and fixed up his first small block when he was still in high school. He and Bo often drift their cars and attend drift racing events together. Zack attended Universal Technical Institute and became Automotive and Diesel Certified in 2012. He came back to Brookings and worked for Coast Auto for 3 years before eventually becoming West Coast Custom Paint and Restoration's resident mechanic.
Justyn is our newest employee and has been good friends with Bo and Zack since they were teenagers. Working on cars on and off since he was 16, it's been a hobby of his for years. Recently he decided to make a career change from working at South Coast Lumber to working here at the shop. Knowing Justyn made the same decision Marty made to make restoring classic cars his livelihood so many years ago, we are excited to welcome him and show him our ways!
